Premium Application Hosting and Security

To guarantee our customers and our staff uninterrupted access to Invoice Insight’s BillPort® application, Invoice Insight utilizes the services of Verizon’s Premium Data Center Services.

Invoice Insight operates our primary servers from the Verizon Premium Data Center in Ashburn, Virginia, near our headquarters outside of suburban Washington, D.C.; our secondary data center location is a similar Verizon facility in Chicago, IL. At each of these facilities, Invoice Insight is responsible for administering our BillPort® application and the underlying hardware and software: Verizon provides the underlying data center support services (described below) and backup/restore services.

Invoice Insight operates two cabinets in each facility. We do not operate at capacity, so as to provide room for growth and the addition of new servers to support load balancing, clustering, etc, as our clients’ requirements grow over time.

Security. Each facility offers state-of-the-art security, including 24/7 armed guards, closed-circuit video monitoring of equipment racks, and biometric key restriction. Each equipment rack is individually keyed and locked, and access control lists are used to monitor personnel who have access to each rack; visitors to the facility must be announced in advance and escorted by authorized personnel.

Bandwidth. The data centers offer two redundant OC-48s (upgradeable to OC-192s) to reach Verizon’s network for bandwidth, with OC-48 connections to other providers, for off-network connectivity.

Power and Redundancy. Each data center has dual primary utility power, provided by different sub-stations, and linked to separate electrical switchboards at the data center. In addition, six 2,000 KW diesel generators are available, with 48 hours of fuel storage, in the event of an interruption of electrical power by the utility companies. Finally, three banks of Universal Power Supplies (UPS) are installed to provide up to 1 MW of battery backup.

Cooling and Fire Suppression. Each facility is cooled by more than 80 CRAC air conditioners, to ensure that all equipment is maintained at the optimum required operating temperatures. Fire suppression is provided by a combination of early-warning fire detection, fire-alarm monitoring by ADT, and a dry-pipe fire suppression system.
